Catholic Bishop weds 15 couples, confirms 217 in Jos

Jos – The Catholic Archbishop of Jos, Most
Rev. Ignatius Kaigama, has joined 15 couples
in Holy Matrimony and administered the
sacrament of confirmation on 217 people in
Jos.
The Archbishop carried out the holy duty while
on pastoral visit to the Church of Assumption
Parish, Chongo Pyong, in Jos on Sunday.
Kaigama urged the couples to always pray
together as that would foster love and
happiness in the family.
He said the family is the small but powerful
unit of the society, as everything remains an
offshoot of the family.
“You must pray as family without season;
when you put prayer first, things will take
shape in the society.
“Family is the smallest but most powerful of
the society, because the good, the bad and
the ugly we see in the society today emanates
from the family.
“So, I urge you to imbibe the spirit of love,
togetherness and sharing,” he urged.
The cleric further charged the couples to teach
their children ways of Christ and ensure they
bring them up in the understanding of God’s
purpose.
Kaigama also admonished those confirmed to
be good ambassadors of the Catholic till the
day God will call them to His home eternal.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the Priest in
charge of the parish, Rev. Fr Philip Jamang,
commended the Archbishop for the visit.
According to Jamang, the visit is a sign of
commitment on the part of the Archbishop to
ensure the continuous spread of the gospel of
Christ.
“Your Grace, we pray and hope that your visit
will rejuvenate our energies and remind us of
the love Jesus has for each one of us who
belong to his flock,” he said.
